Warning 147 - 6 year / 60k service

While I was at my local Alfa garage in Maidstone collecting new PAS pipes (old ones rusted through on an 05 car) I thought I'd ask about my next service.

To cut a long story short what do I get for my £844.61!!! (£678.32 if I join their plus4 club for £99.50 that gets me 25% of labour, 12% off parts, 15% of accessories and £30 off MOT while I own the car. £777.82 in total)

I know its a cambelt change but still why £844/£777? I'm going to phone another Alfa garage near me but I'm sure that's a pretty standard price???

Just looking for general opinions on the price or a reason why its so expensive.

You dont say what version of the 147 but I'm gessing as its 6yrs it a twinnie either 1.6 or 2.0 ?

But yeah thats main dealer prices for a cambelt service.

Why dont you find a good indie it'll be much cheaper ?

Sorry. Yep its a 1.6 twin spark. 05 facelift model. I'd like to get some other quotes but I wasn't sure what a 6 year service includes. Cam belt, air filter, oil & filters....but what else? I'd also like to replace the variator as it seems to difficult to tell if its gone.

£500 from an indie is nearer the mark.

If your plugs aint been done, they'll need doing and they're pricey.

Hey guys.. I use a great Indie Specialist in Loose, Maidstone "GO ITALIA" Jamie use to be the Master Tech at Limpscombes before he went solo. Labour Rate is £50ph (not VAT registered yet either).. give him a call on 01622 749282 or 079400 29427.

He did a cracking job on my car, very professional and nice little workshop.

I tend to buy my parts direct from Jamie Porter Ltd (Alfa Workshop) in Royston, Herts.. get them delivered and take it up to other Jamie to sort out. He also has an account at SC Factors if you need to save a bit on non-OEM parts.

I recently had a big 72K Service with Full Cambelt Change Out (everything done here) and I was charged £250.00 for Labour, including Selenia Oils. Bought all the parts from alfa workshop for £330.00 (I had more than the usual here).

I also got a new Aux Tensioner Part & Labour fitted for £50 (factors tensioner)

I also had to have a new sump fitted so Labour, sump sealer etc. cost £140.00 all work done, I provided sump unit.

Jamie is qualified / experienced in ALFA - FIAT - LANCIA and FIAT Campers - full height workshops.

Spread the word around as he is the only decent Indie in our area.
