Hmmm Hard to start 156

My 156 has been giving a little trouble lately. The first time we try to start it each time it has sat over night or for a number of hours it is difficult to start. It is running like a dream still though and if we've started the car just recently (within a couple of hours) and hopped back in it again it starts straight away. Any ideas what the problem is??? thanks.

could you give more detail?
Doest it need alot of cranking?
or is it slow to crank?
does it chough and splutter before starting?
What year and engine size is it?

Would start with the basics, check the battery on a multimeter before you start her up in the morning, see if its losing charge.

Temperature sensor giving a false signal to the ECU, so it thinks its warm and doesn't give a rich enough mixture......?

I had similar problems recently, turned over but wouldn't fire 1st attempt, 2nd/3rd she went - shouldn't have driven though as I ended up in the Pizza Hut car park later that day and she wouldn't start at all (until I got towed).

So hopefully it's not the crank sensor (not because it's expensive to fix) but because apparently it's SOOOO easy to do! lol (yes I ham currently enduring this problem!)
