After obsessing about Alfa's for far too long, I have at last shelled out the hard-earned on my new 156, which I have now had for 2 weeks, 2 days and 3 hours (not that I am counting
). I still can't stop myself staring at it every time I get out, or even pass a window, and every time that needle passes 4000rpm I can't help but laugh out loud (my other half is thinking of having me sectioned...).
I have been logging onto the AO web-site for a little while now, and have noticed this seems to be the best place to get advice and opinions from people who really know what they are talking about. So, here goes....
The car is actually an Irish import, which didn't come with an alarm. I am thinking about getting a Thatcham cat 2:1 upgrade alarm fitted, but some of the posts on this forum seem to hint that after-market alarms are bad news. Does anyone have any views on this? I am a bit reluctant to leave it without any sort of alarm.
Also, the car was very low mileage when I bought it (13k on a 2000 X-reg) so I would guess that the cam belt has not been changed from new. Should I wait until I get to 72k miles or change it when the car is 6 years old (chances are I won't do 59k in the next 2 years...)?
Finally, I have noticed a slight whine from the engine when I push over 3500rpm. Do I need to worry about this? I used to have a GTV 2.0TS, and I never noticed this noise on that car (it was a company car - and I used to spend FAR too long over 35000rpm, if you know what I mean
Many thanks (in anticipation)
