Oil level switch fault

Hi All,

Great web site I have not been on for a year, so the improvements are noticeable my Alfa 156 is still playing up. just when things are going ok it kicks me in the proverbials. Can anyone with any technical knowledgehelp me on this?. This morning I couldn't start the car due to a flat battery, not having used it for 5 days. The car was working perfectly when I parked it so the battery must be on the way out, anyway I jump started it using my wife's car and it started ok . I then noticed a GO TO DEALER message saying ENGINE OIL SENDER FAULT. Does anyone know whether these events are connected? and also what I should pay to get it fixed. I have already just had new suspension arms, rear discs and pads and I still need a new cambelt and front discs and pads.

Thanks in anticipation of any replies

Peter S

PS just been reading James May's book CAR FEVER- really funny, well recommended

Thanks Dave,

I live in Runcorn not far. I will try that tomorrow the battery is charged now but the fault persists, I will try disconnecting and then re connecting the earth.

Hi during the summer my battery was on the way out and after two weeks lying in an airport, the car refused to even crank. I jumped started it, but the battery wasnt even managing to hold a charge, on the road home, I got all manner of warning messages, ones about oil, ABS system failures etc....it was telling me to GO TO THE DEALER too.

Next morning I fitted a new battery and all the messages disappeared.
