And besides, it wasnt the public spending that gave us the national debt, it was the bailing out of the banks and the proping up of the economy (the tories would have let us fall deep into depression). The government now owns a substantial holding in some banks and when they eventually sell out, they'll make a fortune.
Hi Singularity! I think you have got the wrong end of the stick there!
Public spending played a large part in the debt crisis, with local councils etc urinated huge sums of public money, i see that you blame the banks, by the times the banks were bailed out the country was already up the creek and had been for a very long time. It was infact the economic policy adopted by Brown from the USA that resulted in this crisis IMHO! As for the cuts
I see other areas that the cuts should and could have been made, for a start there is a war that we should never have been involved with and if you tallyup the cost to the tax payer, our childrens children will be still be paying for it. Also, benefits and benefits culture is another with the tax payer picking up the bill for mortgages than could never be afforded and still pick-up the tab on these as these same people have now declared themselves unemployed or bankrupt, so you guessed it we are picking up the tab again as well!!!
Never mind the amount abusing the motability allowance running around in brand spanking new cars at .... you guessed it !? Mine & every other tax payers expense. This system is highly flawed and about time it was addressed!
Im not having a pop at the genuine disabled but i am having a pop at the legislation for qualification as it too is a joke!
As for the banks, the government saw a return on investment within two years and has been making profits ever since.
Right, i think its time i got of my soapbox & grabbed my coat!
