Guys you might have remembered a thread i had a while back about proposing to the girlfriend, well for new years i organised a trip to where we had our first holiday in Rome. So as we were in Poland with the car at that time to be with her family for a bit i told her we are going to have a surprise road trip
car was all ready, new clutch, cv boots, thermostat so car was near perfect except the arb bushes.
Anyway the next day - so on the 31st of December we crossed into Italy and about 10mins later there is a "PING" from under the car.
Stopped to check the car and all seemed ok and no warning lights.
So i continued towards the motorway when the car was making a strange whining noise whilst accelerating and then the injector light comes on and ive no power. pulled over straight away and smoke is pouring out of the engine bay!
called a tow truck and its brought to a mechanic at 8pm!! were supposed to be at the hotel in Rome by 10pm!!
Mechanic looks at the oil level and the oil has disappeared... so he puts in some oil and starts the car... engine saved
made it just in time but the amount of white smoke pouring out of the exhaust more than confirmed the problem...
Turbo completely destroyed so now ive just arrived from Poland by plane and the car is at the mechanic waiting for the new turbo to arrive
Heres the question lads.... are the turbos for all the 2.4 10v the same? i think ive read that the 136bhp has a different turbo? mine is the 140bhp one with the black engine cover.
oh and she said YES!!!!!!!!
so not all bad!
