Today.. did a 2 hour run to Cambridge and the Stat didn't get passed 70C, doing around 60-75mph, and then it would drop a bit, but never got to 90C..?.!.? I was surprised that fuel economy was pretty good did 170 miles to just over the first Qtr from full tank and the heating felt correct from 21 - 24C in car and very hot on the blower demister.
At least the Stat part is only around £40 from Alfa Workshop, so for a low cost its worth doing and should see an improvement in MPG too, get one on order soon... All my other cars ran at 90C, so this is deffo not right.
Just found this posted eleswhere by DAVID C....... If it doesn't even rise above 60, even in heavy traffic and your heater is working nicely, then it could be a gauge or sensor issue. Ideally you need it plugged into diagnostics to see what the ECU sees when the gauge is at 60 and also using a laser temperature sensor, what the actual temperature of the pipes at the thermostat are.
I will check the sensor out first, as thats only £15. Cheers Dave.
