Re: More ICE Fitted!!!
i use speedsound.com. Theyre not the absolute cheapest US site, but they deliver to Aus and theyre service is A1.
Focal's polykevlar range is fantastic, but nething other than that id go for the equivalently priced MB Quart.
Re DVD deck u wont b able to buy one from the US. Their region coding for DVDs is different, they use region 1, we use region 2,3,4. Also the FM band is different. I bought my Clarion deck from Autobahn, it cost close to 4K, but its the only way u can go unfortunately. I also bought the TV tuner, which if u had the US deck, wont b able to communicate with.
Kicker subs r pretty good for boomy bass, depends whether u want volume or quality. Again MB Quart make a quality sealed sub, but imo, ull need to spend a good 2K on an amp to power it to spot ne difference bw an MB sub and say a top of the line dual voice coil type r Alpine sub.
Choosing an amp depends on ur speakers. If uve spent big money on high fidelity speakers, ull want an equally expensive amp to get the most out of them. Its often a good idea to match the brand of amp with speakers, as ull know they'll work best together.
Speaker wise i went with JBL Pro 6-1/2" in front and 6" 2 way in the rear with a 4chan JBL amp powering speakers and 2chan JBL amp powering an Alpine Dual Voice coil 12" sealed sub.
Another thing to note, buying online works out cheaper only if u buy small lightweight parcels. Things like amps and subs r heavy, and u really get reemed for it in shipping prices. Additionally ne purchase made in excess of Aus $1000 gets taxed at around 33%, plus ne custom admin charges.
Ull prob want to replace the speaker wiring in the car too. I had to, it was overheating after only a few minutes of play, so i replaced it all with lower guage (thicker) Monster Cable. Insulating the interior also helps with sound quality playback, i used Dynomat here.
Goodluck with it, like i said in my first post, it def is a domino effect, once u start, u gotta go all the way. With speakers and amp selection my best advice is to visit an audio shop and c what u like, every1 has different tastes. Just visit a few stores. I say this bcoz most independent audio stores have deals with specific audio manufacturers to specialise in their brand, and theyll always want to push the sales of what they stock
