hahah - I had that title before! But it's well and truely gone now, I look like I've had a fight with a cat and lost!
soooo... I've put the sensor back in (gave it a tap as best I could to ensure was seated right in before doing up the allen key bolt - fun!) put the throttle body / cables / ecu / intake / filter / MAF and finally battery back on.
ok... into drivers seat, key to on (not ignition) and electrics all working, no scary alarms/codes/warnings on the dash (just the bulb light from my dodgy rev counter - replacement on its way)
STARTS first time! (at least I know I've reconnected everything the right way around!)
left her running for a few minutes, observations:
seems a bit smokier than usual, hard to tell the colour, but probably due to the fact she's been stuck on the drive all week/its freezing cold/wet etc - trying not to be paranoid here as I've only changed the crank sensor and this shouldn't have any impact on exhaust related issues right?
noticed a bit of what could be smoke OR steam from the front grill, very minor amount, seemed to go after a bit and assuming this is probably again where she's not been started up for a week / or where the rain has gotten into the front a bit and made everything a bit wet/damp - again, everything connected properly, radiator/exhaust shouldn't have any side effects of work done.
cam belt area sounds quite noisy - again probably more-so due to lack of use - but definately think i'll be getting this done soon, probably no worse than it was before these faults happened - but a job that most likely needs doing soon-ish.
I'm guessing that because the battery has been disconnected as well, the ECU has probably reset and everythings a bit wonky?
should i go through a "first time" kinda setup/reset process at this point?
Fingers crossed she starts again in the morning and this wasn't just a fluke because she's cold (although I did stop/start 5/6 times over 10-15 minute period).
Either way, quite chuffed I managed to do all this (and thank all of those that have contributed their help to this thread, PM's (Super especially) and former postee's who's information/problems and subsequent diagnosis has helped me immensely!
Can I call myself a true Alfisti now?
