If you read my previous post you would know that my intake pipe (rubber bit) split causing my engine (2001 V6)to have an idle between normal and 3000 rpm!! I repaired the pipe with tape til i can find a new one but the symptoms persist (although not as bad). I have done a throttle and ECU reset with only slight improvement. I am noticing slight improvements the more I drive but its still not right. Seems a bit of a coincidence to have another fault at the same time the pipe split. For info only, it does not matter if engine is hot or cold (might be slightly better when warm). I can get the idle ok with a quick tap on the throttle, until the next time I have accelarate. No sign of air leaks. Disconecting MAF made little difference (although I might clean it anyway)
. So what do the experts on here think it might be? Any suggestions greatly appreciated (especially if they turn out to be correct!).
So tomorrow im going to try and clean the (fly by wire) throttle body. Reason is that there may be tiny bits of rubber from the intake pipe stopping the butterfly from fully closing (well its an idea and Im desperate!!!)I have read on here not to move the butterfly by hand so...
How do you clean it without damage and pref without removing the whole thing to get at the back!?
I have never had a prob with the car in the whole time I have owned it so have never used either of the versions of fiatecuscan I have downloaded or the modified VAG lead I have. When trying to see if any fault codes where present it would not work. Came up with "Port COM 1 does not exist". So I looked at the FECUS site and the instructions made no sense to me as I have Vista and the screen shots were from another operating prog (I think). My PC says COM 5 in the device manager but I dont know what Im doing to be honest.So..
How do I set up fiatecuscan on Vista home premium?
A lot of stuff I know but even if you can help with one of the questions it would be a great help. Im a half reasonable mechanic (old skool) so if it was a new cambelt or an engine rebuilt it would be easy peasy but things like this prob and bloody computer is a dif story.
Cheers in advance. Dean. Alfaitalia.
