Hi all. I got my rear brake discs and pads changed today, drove the car through the city and then 20 miles back to my parents. No problems. Then when I went to leave I started the engine and the idle rose to 1500rpm and then down and it stalled. This happened 3 times, so I ended up just keeping the revs up and driving it 100 miles back to London.
When I was cruising at 70 I would engage the clutch and the revs would again drop but would fluctuate between 1500 - 600 revs, but not stall. After a few seconds the speedometer would do similar and fluctuate between 70 - 30mph.
Once I got to London it wasnt so bad. When stopped, the idle would fluctuate between 1500-600rpm 2 or 3 times and then settle on 1000rpm, sometimes moving 100rpm either way.
I'm fairly sure there can be no link between the brakes and idle, but to be honest I dont know a great deal about cars.
Its a 2001 156, 1.6ts.
Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.
