Resetting ECU/Power pulsing

Hi guys,
I just completed the much recommended V6 induction mod and K&N replacement filter on my 1999 156 2.0TS. Do I need to reset the ECU to get the full effect, if so how do I do this?
Also, does anyone have a problem with the power failing intermittently, particularly just after ignition and also when accelarating it seems to pulsate a little.
Thanks guys,

Re: Resetting ECU/Power pulsing

I've just been reading about resetting the ECU on another forum, they reckon 45mins with the battery cable off and then reconnect and 5 mins idle. Not sure if this is correct as advice for older cars (eg 155's etc) was just to leave it off for more than 15mins.

Your ECU will learn the new changes anyway I think.

The pulsing could be AFM or lambda.

Re: Resetting ECU/Power pulsing

It's a straight forward panel filter you have? New design of air filters can disrupt the airflow over the Mass Air Flow Sensor. I've never heard of this on an Alfa though.

It sounds like a MAF sensor fault though and they are common for going caput. The Lamdba works on closed loop so I can't see how it would effect the acceleration. I did have a misfire/hestation on full throttle that turned out to be the MAF sensor. Although having said that the garage wouldn't have picked it up on the diagnostics unless they knew what value it should be reading.
