Alfa engineering on my GT or just a friday afternoon car?
Deep breath before my list of woes
Bought an Alfa GT from ES Jones in Dobshill about 3 months ago.
Excellent sales, slightly iffy servicing
PDI inadequate as air con not working, boot not closing easily (needs slamming), whistle from door seal on passenger side
Returned to dealer for these three faults to be fixed, initially told that the whistle is just a feature of frameless windows!! Ultimately the aircon was fixed and despite me being informed that other faults were fixed no progress.
I decided to wait and take it to a better dealer for the 1 year service and get seals and boot adjusted at that point.
Unfortunately I now find that there is a glitch with the gearbox in that it gets stuck in reverse as well as a noise with the clutch on full depression...hmmm surely the clutch can't go at 3000 miles?
Taken into the dealer who after initially suggesting that there can't be anything wrong with the clutch tell me that the dual mass fly wheel was misaligned causing damage to gearbox...necessitating a new flywheel and clutch as well as a new gearbox....! I'm also a little suspicious that this kind of damage could have longer term effects on the engine but would welcome anyone with better mechanical knowledge's opinion!
Car currently with dealer....should be back early jan when they re-open after xmas break....
Has anyone had any experience with rejecting cars (in the event that they still can't fix the issues such as whistle and boot) from Alfa or what kind of compensation ARUK are likely to offer if the whole car is returned to me in the condition it should have been sold in?
