Keep away from ES Jones
Well.....ES Jones finally took the vehicle in 2 weeks ago to fix the damage they had caused. I was initially promised that the vehicle would be back after 48 hours, however given previous form I wasn't optimistic and insisted on a better courtesy car in case they failed to deliver. To be fair to them the provided a 159. This was lucky as instead of 2 days they took 7.
On collection of the vehicle I did point out to the service assistant that although the drivers door was slightly better it still looked a little out.... he steadfastly informed me that it was not possible to be any better and in fact suggested he'd never seen a door better aligned.
At this stage I thought it would be best to discuss with the DP directly, as well as to pursue her previous suggestion that compensation was appropriate. I'd emailed her the previous week to arrange this. Perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised when she refused to see me, instead sending the assistant back out with an offer of 2 free services. I'd previously informed her this wasn't acceptable given the incompetence ES Jones had shown in repairing my vehicle. At this stage I'd had enough and walked out.
If anything their attempt at repairing the bent hinges has made it worse....there's now an intolerable amount of wind noise from the drivers side door if I drive above 50mph. There's a clear step in the seal above the window and there's a gap I can get my fingers into between the door and the dash in the area circled in the attached picture.
I've still had no contact from the dealer principal. The only response from the service desk is to inform me that I have to wait for Alfa to process the warranty claim before they can give me receipts..... I'm actually quite surprised that ES Jones are putting this through to ARUK as a warranty issue given their mechanic bent the door hinges.... does anyone else think this sounds like they're pulling a fast one on ARUK? If not hopefully it means I can take it to another dealership who are less incompetent and they can get the door fixed?
I'd welcome others thoughts on what to do next.....
I'd also like to re-iterate to anyone who's considering getting any work done on their Alfa in the Cheshire/North Wales area to learn from my mistakes and stay well away from this dodgy dealership!
