Selespeed pressure drops when warm
Hi there, wondered if anyone had a conclusive answer to this problem before I break the car.
I've bought a 147 selespeed as a "spare or repair". The fault seems to be an intermittent problem where it will sometimes refuse to change gear. The previous owner (alfa166man on here) spent a lot of money on a new pump and then a new accumulator a few months later after further problems and thought it was sorted but then this current problem started.
When I've been playing with it in the drive with alfadiag hooked up it will change gear perfectly when cold and the system pressure starts at 55 bar and after a few changes drops to 45 bar then you can hear the pump run and it goes back to 55 bar etc.... No problems.
But when you leave it running to warm to 90 degrees the problem seems to start and I watched the pressure in the system drop from 55 to about 30 as I changed gear several times and there was no sign of the pump kicking in and then the car wouldn't change gear any longer.
It is showing two fault codes on the selespeed ecu
P1745 switch lever 0
P1746 switch lever 1
I mainly bought the car for the leather interior and bose stereo but if it's a fairly simple fix I don't mind keeping it from the scrap heap as it's a sad end for any Alfa, although if anyone needs bits it might keep another one going.
