Alfa 147 1.9JTD Temperature problem!

Hello Everyone..

Recently ive had problems with my car temperature, it has been waryin from 60c to 70c not more. Ive contacted a few alfa services here and all of them have told me to change the thermostat.

I changed the thermostat today, and i have the same problem.

Is there anything you would suggest me doing ?

Would not be the first themostat to be duff out of the box. If not then get alfadiag or fiatecuscan connected to the car to see if your temp gauge is lying to you or not!!

I had my rad and stat replaced a few weeks before the first real cold spell set in.

I know the stat works fine and it gets up to temp eventually (1.9 jtd m-jet) however in the recent cold weather its not been getting as warm as it should, but when the temp is -8 in a howling wind and heaters I wasn't expecting miracles.

be sure its not the cold weather driving down your engine temp.

ill try alfadiag, even thought after the service check, they recommended me thermostat change, so im not sure if they were based on their diagnosis.

The weather is cold here at the moment, like -5 during the day, but ive had these temps, even like 2 months ago when the temps were +15 or so.
Plus, the heater is not warm either, it takes the gauge to go to like over 60c to start heating, so im guessin the guage is okay!

Ill make sure i change the coolant and the filters, so it might have something to do with that! just a guess.

yeah, you need to get it hooked up to a computer to see what the water temp is. My gauge never shows over 75, but according to the computer the water temp got up to ~85 before the termostat opened.
