A bit of 156 advice
I have just purchased my first Alfa today, its a 156 1.8 ts on a w reg 2000.
I did buy it cheap with a few faults, its got history up until about 25k ago, about 10 months ago it had both front lower arms replaced but has a knock coming from the nearside when going over small bumps almost sounds like a ball joint?
It also has a whine coming from the cam gear area? is this terminal lol? I am going to get the cambelt done for peace of mind is there some kinda tensioner or idler bearing thats prone to whining?
One last thing is the idle is all over the place, it drops to 1000rpm then climbs up to just over 2000rpm before settling back about 1200rpm.
The car does drive ok and stays under 90 on the temperture gauge, no smoke, gearbox is sweet and the clutch pedal is fine.
I appreciate any advice on the above.
