Alfa 147

Hmmm Alfa 147 2.0 TS Breaks!

When ever i first use my car every morning, the first two or three times i break i get a horried noise, grinding, sounds like metal and metal and coming from every corner!

But after a couple of times of slowing and getting to some heat into them the noise stops and goes away for the rest of the day.

I have checked all the pads and discs and all are fine and in good nick and they stop well under all weather.

Its always when the car has been sat all night or not used for a day or two?

I know you can get surface rust from rain on the discs when not moving or being used, but would this happen every day no matter what?

Has anyone had this or get this on there 147?

Is it just a 147 thing?

Most cars do it in bad weather - it's just an accumulation of crap. Once you're driving and you've applied the breaks a few times it'll be OK. Until the next time, that is.

This is becoming a more common due to the components of the brake pad material, metal filings is part of the compound which becomes rusty and causes the grinding noise as they are cleaning up, this is also the reason why discs wear and become lipped, modern matrials hey !!
