You will want to rule out the A arms etc first perhaps.
Jack the front of the car up (one wheel at a time is best - and obviously making sure you do it safely etc) and grab the wheel at the top and try and pull and push the wheel. You can also grab the top A arm which you will see above the top of the wheel and see if you can pull and push it and get a knock etc.
Then grab the wheel on the sides and do it again and then the bottom. This should indicate (although not 100% certain) if the knock is from the track rod end or the steering rack (if it knocks when you test the sides of the wheel), the upper a arm (when you grab the top or the a arm itself), or the lower joint (if it knocks on the bottom) etc etc etc
I haven't explained that very well but its all very simple to test.
If non of these knock, then either get under the car or take the wheel off and inspect for movement and issues with the anti-roll bar (sway bar) bushings.
