Electric Window Switches - 2002 156
I've done a forum search and seen several threads on electric window switches, but most were quite old, and none seemed to answer my specific question, so I've created a new thread.
Like many other people, the drivers window switch has broken. It appears to be one of the very small plastic tabs on the side of the switch has broken off, presumably it got brittle because of the cold. I've removed the pod from the door, and my first thought was to swap the drivers switch with one of the rear door switches, but that might not work as the drivers switch has different shaped plastic bits on the bottom - although the drivers one might actually fit into the rear ones, but not cleanly.
My "pod" has 4 different coloured switches (black, white, green, brown) all sitting in a purple piece, which in turn sits in the "pod" which is black. I've had a few goes at removing the coloured bit from the purple bit, it looks like it should be doable, but is that what I should be doing or should I be removing the purple bit from the "pod"? Apologies for the lack of pictures.
I've seen complete "pods" on eBay for £25 - £30, and if that's what I need then that's what I'll do. But if it's at all possible I'd just like to replace the broken switch.
To summarise, what is my best option?
1. To replace the entire pod with one from ebay
2. To replace the purple and black piece only
3. To swap the purple and black piece with one of the rear switches
4. To try and just replace the broken rocker switch
Any advice greatly appreciated. Sorry for the long post.
