156 blown up
I have a 2000 1.8 156 TS. Driving home on Sunday night I noticed that the engine management light came on intermittently, but had no other 'sypmtoms'. I parked up under the carport and left it until nipping out tonight. I noticed as I pulled away that there was a squealing noise, but in this weather thougt that the fan belt had decided to let itself be heard. However,I got 2 streets away and there was an awful clunking noise, and I lost all power - she just died. The engine management light, oil light and battery light come on and stay on, and it makes a horrible noise if I try and turn it over.
Luckily for me, a kind chappie took pity on the poor woman trying to push a car up a slope and towed me home! When I accidentally popped it into 1st gear while being towed it made another horrible rattling sound.
I know I haven't described this very well, but does this sound familar to anyone? The car has 109k on the clock and the cam belt was replaced in April 2008, she's only done about 20k since then.
