Silvercheck Alfa - any good?

Hi All,

I'm visiting from the 145 forum again!

I'm looking to buy a 156 (a 2.0TS Veloce manual if poss) and have been looking at the website of a company called Silvercheck Alfa in Yateley, Hants who seem to be a 156 specialist. Has anyone had any experience of them and are they any good?

May go down there on Saturday and see what they offer part ex on my 145 QV out of interest (probably not a lot ).

Sorry to say that I don't know much about them, other than I think there used to be a franchised Alfa dealer in Yately ( Thorobred ? - Or was that Shepperton ? ), so I suspect that Silvercheck is the new name for whoever the Dealer used to be.
Not much of a help I know .

Re: Silvercheck Alfa - any good?

Hi Chris

I bought my Alfa from Silvercheck. They we're pretty down to earth and honest enough but their service does have some room for improvement. Their prices seemed reasonable and the car came with 12 months MOT, 12 month Warranty, service and cambelt change. I had a couple of minor issues with the car which they dealt with prior to me picking it up. They valeted the car, but they may have well not bothered, the ashtrays still had fag butts in and my father-in-law found a burger box with lettuce in under the driver seat. They overfilled the car with oil and the screen wash was vertually non-existant. I don't believe there is such a thing as a reliable car dealer, I think you could do a lot worse than Silvercheck.

I love the car and have had no problems with it at all.

Hope this helps.

Did they charge you for the Lettuce?, was it inside it's sell by date?, you might be able to sue them for that......

Re: Silvercheck Alfa - any good?

I have a friend who bought a 156 from them. He had a lot of issues with it, some that were safety related and only when he got legal with them did they repair the car.

Can't recommend I am afraid...

Re: Silvercheck Alfa - any good?

I got my 156 from Silvercheck a year ago, they are down to earth, which I had no problem with. My car has been fantastic, but with an average mileage by the one previous owner of 8,000 per year, and a perfect sevice record, I would be surprised if it wasn't. If the previous owners treated the car like crap, then there's not much the dealer can do about it.
