2008 GT What Bulbs are Monitored

Hiya guys,

I do alot of night driving, so I am looking to upgrade some of my bulbs. Some for asthetical purposes (number plate, puddle lights etc) and some for performance, dipped fog etc.

I dont want to get into a legalities debate about if you should or shouldnt fit HIDs etc, I just want to know what bulbs are monitored by the onboard computer. So essentially what ones do I need to ensure are CANBUS and what are not.

Thanks in advance.

Not certain about the GT, but on the 156 on which its based the light check circuit monitors sidelights and number plate lights - not headlamps or foglamps AFAIK.

from what I know the exterior lights are all monitored with the exception of the dipped and main beam headlights. I know the front fog lights are not part of this either although uncertain of the rears, but these don't need to be fiddled with.

that means:

side lights, front & rear
brake lights (not sure about high level)
indicators (from memory)
number plate lights

are part of the system.

if you want to see better then HIDs are just by far an away the best option you could go for if done properly you get far far better light output and intesity.

interior lights to the best of my knowledge are not part of the system so you can do what the hell you like with them. what you have to remember though is that some of the courtesy lights run and feed off a capacitor, which determines how long they stay lit and then dim for. if you change interior lights for stuff like LEDs the lights are going to stay on for longer, you don't want them on too much longer which could adversely affect you visibility when driving at night.

Cheers for the info guys, much appreciated.
So sounds like I just need CANBUS side lights and number plate lights
