147 uel guage readings
Hope someone can shed some light on this problem?
On Sunday I put £20 of petrol in the car, which took it to just over 1/4 tank, which I would expect;I did 20 miles or so and parked up.
The car wasn't driven for 2 days however when I got in last night and started up, the needle was on empty. The car is parked on a cambered road, and that makes ONLY a nominal difference to the reading, so I put another £10 in and the needle rose to where it ought to be, taking account of the two fuellings.
This evening, I tuned the key to MAR andand the needle rose correctly so I started the engine and carried on clearing snow and ice off the screen whilst the engine ticked over for about 15 mins. Now, when I got in to drive off...........the needle was marginally above zero when there should be at least 1/4 tank full.
What confuses me is, why did it rise to the correct position when switching the ignition on, the dropping to just over zero while it ticked over?????
It's a 147 2.0 2003 if that makes any difference to the question.
Is it the cold? Or some other gremlin?
