Stereo Interferance

The sound system on my 147 Selespeed suffers from really annoying interferance, when i accelerate there is a electrical whistling noise/interferance which increases as i accelarate further, it gets so bad i have to switch it off. It does not always happen. Can be triggered when going over bumps and can also go away with a swift whack to the lower dash in the passenger footwell. I think its the surpressor although to be honest i dont really know what i am talking about, HELP!!!!!

Re: Stereo Interferance

Do you have an aftrermarket head unit or the stock one ?

It seems like a ground loop. Your head unit's ground cable has a bad contact ocassionally and the head unit gets grounded from the antenna's negative terminal, which causes a ground loop. You have to check your ground wire (the black one) behind the head unit.

If you have an aftermarket head unit with an external amplifier, you have to ground your head unit at the same spot where your amp is grounded, and make sure all low signal cables are far away from the amp's power and ground cable.
