147 collezione.......... cambelt
I'm new to the forum but am about to collect a 2008 147 collezione 1.9JTD on Tuesday. I'm very excited it'll be my second 147 but much nicer than the old one (2.0TS from 2001).
My main question revolves around the dreaded cambelt............. I'm aware that 147s and Alfas in general have cambelt issues, despite searching the forum I can't get a definitive answer on the recommended interval to change the belt on my model. It's an 8v 1.9JTD from 2008 with 48k miles on the clock, it still has 6 months left on its manufacturers warranty and is just having its 48k service so I know it'll be ok for 6 months at least (well maybe not ok but if it breaks it'll be under warranty anyway).
From my reading most problems seem to revolve around the 16v diesel engine and water pump but the 8v engine seems to be stronger however most threads seem to refer to older 8v engines so does this still apply to my model? I've also read that the recommended interval is 60k for diesels in general but does this apply to my model? If so I'll just get it changed as soon as the warranty runs out for peace of mind, presume it'll be worth changing the water pump too?
Cheers for any info.
