Rear Brake caliper and handbrake issue

Hi Guys

My rear onside brake disk was getting very hot and squeeling. I removed the caliper and found I couldn't rewind the piston. I decided to remove caliper, so undid flexi but then found I can't get handbrake cable off. I slackened the cable, un-hooked the bit that goes on the lever on the caliper but can't see how you then remove the outer bit from the caliper.

With the flexi undone I still can't rewind the piston, so i guess the caliper is toast anyway. But I need to seperate it from the blasted handbrake cable.

Any ideas?

There is an adjuster on the handbrake .. under the gaiter. That will loosen off the cable. Then it should simply unhook. Has the linkage on the caliper been bent so that it's trapping the cable?

There's a how-to on the brakes on my website and this has a couple of images and pics that might help you.

I have just ordered this to rebuild my rear calipers. Its not that difficult, you basically strip it apart (remember how it goes) replace seals etc and rebuild with caliper grease.
