Engine lamp failure

My 156 Selespeed has had the engine changed. It was running fine and no problems.

Then the car stood for at while woithout beeing used and the battery was dead.

Now the car must run again, but even with at new battery the enginge lamp still is on and it is not possible to shut it off with the tester.

Any one has a clue what to do?
Will a ECU reset help, perhaps? (have read about this in another thread)

Alfa 156 JTD

I had a good running engine, but with winter coming I did the antifreeze and cleaned the spark plugs the other weekend. After a few miles my engine light came on, even though the car ran better. I did the ECU reset a couple of days ago and during the idle stage the light went out. Not come back on (yet?) and running a lot smoother.

Give it a go...
