156 cold feet

My 156 V6 has been running for a couple of weeks now and the main problem I am experiencing is with the climate control. The engine takes a while to warm up and the gauge stays low so I suspect the thermostat is in need of replacing (put that on the "to do" list) but even when warm air is pouring out of the upper vents I am getting nothing in the footwell. Tried the climate reset procedure of disconnecting the battery then reconnecting and leaving it alone for a few mins. The demist function seems to work ok so there is something happening with the internal flaps, could it be a temperature sensor gone wonky?
Any advice welcomed.
