Alfa 156 JTS 2.0

side lamp bulb change

For those trying to work out how to change these on a 156. They are in the middle of the headlamp unit. Pull/twist off the central circular cover. Inside there is the unit holding the bulb ther is an offset plastic tab - a bit like a minature pistol handle. (about 1.5 inches long).
Feel for this - it is very difficult to see what you are doing.
When I removed it I twisted it first (maybe a few times) this seemed to free it. Then extract it with the bulb in and change bulb. You can get in Halfords or online.
On mine if you just pull the unit it didn't seem to want to come out. The twisting freed it.
A bit fiddly but small hands or a pair of long nose pliers might help!
Under no circumstances pull too hard or you will break the offset tab. Be patient - twist and it should come out.

and when putting the bulb and holder back in put the ignition/light on so you can see exactly where you should be aiming for to send her home
