Didn't check the car over before I bought it
Hi all, As the title says, I bought a 156 the other day and I was so chuffed with how the whole thing looked I simply jumped in and started the engine and then handed over the money.
Once I started driving whenever I braked, there was this weird humming noise, it sounds like the brakes, but after a while of driving the car still makes this noise even when the brakes aren't applied but worse when they are.. Worn pads? Discs maybe? The brake pedal just drops to the floor on a light press, there's no weight in it, when the engine is off the pedal is solid, when its on it's very soft.
When I brake at speed the car doesn't pull or judder, but to stop in an emergency I would probably need to pump the pedal.
The next thing I noticed was how it's drinking fuel! I put £20 in and did 45 miles approx and the petrol light came on!
I also noticed from reading a few threads when I was out earlier in it the temperature never got above 60 but when I was sitting in traffic it suddenly shot over 100 and it returned back down low again when I started moving on an open road.
Lastly, whenever going over speed bumps there is this squishing noise coming from the suspension.
This all seems like simple stuff and just wear and tear, although i think the car was out of use for a good 4 months before I bought it.
