Cam Locks question
Quick question that's been bugging me since I did the belt on my 120hp 147 - using what I presume were the correct locking tools, I took care to make sure I ordered the right ones.
The car runs fine since the belt change, if I had used the locks for the 105hp engine would I have been able to use them and would it cause me a noticeable problem or would they not even fit on the camshafts?
I'm asking because when doing the belt change the inlet timing semeed a bit out (inlet lock didn't fit) but it ran fine before, and even though I had to retard the inlet timing to fit the locks, the car still runs fine which seems odd - the only thing is a wee flat spot and a barely audible 'rattle' dead on about 2300rpm?
What's the difference between the locks/cams between the two engines - is it camshaft diameter, cam profile or is it the inlet cam angle in which case could I have used the wrong locking tools but just be lucky to get away with it? Any help appreciated in case my timing's out and I'm doing damage!
