Coil or plug or ...

Something occured in the last 2 days that might help give some clues to my issues. So MCSF been perm on for about a year now ( beep on start ), flies the MOT emissions so no big issue, whenever I cleared it, it ALWAYS comes on on thrid journey at around 5km into journey, so just when heating up, I can almost draw a line in the road where it will come on. Anyway never any loss of power, just lumpy idle and bit bouncy during those 2nd gear traffic jam crwals - so just left it.

Since its got sub-zero, in the time between getting car out of garage and left idle whilst getting kids in and buckled up, MSCF light flashing and beeper going off periodically. So I guess this is saying too rich do something, soon as I roll, it goes back to perm light as before.

Does this new info help diagnose, code reader suggests a miss, but I'm sure its more than spark or coil as any high load would also cause a miss and it does not if flooring up hills etc once moving it never skips a beat.

As above on idle it does bounce around 750-900 and can feel misfire now and again, but this latest MCSF failure when sitting for 30 secs coming out of a cold garage does that help pin anything more down ?

There's nothing in the dark that isn't there in the light ..... except fear

Check the collant sensor connection on the RHS by the throttle if it get corroded it will give cold engine signals to the ECU. If your radiator fan comes on erratically early that is it too ?

I just had the MCSF message come on last week whilst the car was still warming up (I'd been driving for a couple of miles). I couldn't notice any loss of power or lumpiness in the idle, but took it to a dealer on yesterday. They diagnosed a failing ignition coil. I had it replaced for 170. Fingers crossed I don't get a repeat.
