156 Twin Spark - My first week
Being a new-to-Alfa driver I have to say I'm generally impressed. However, there are certain things I love, and a few niggles already.
How it looks - It looks great!
Very responsive Steering - Very light steering needed.
Quick - Certainly doesn't want to stand around much :-) It likes to stretch it's legs.
Niggles: (these may be general AR156 niggles, or just on my car)
Accelerator - It's either nothing or lots of revs. Only have to lightly touch the peddle and the engine's purring.
No boot open, other than handle by drivers seat - Annoying with a shopping trolley load, and you have to enter the car to open the boot. Minor inconvenience.
Storage - Very little internal storage places - Door & interior are very limited in what you can store there (other than the glove box).
Noisy engine - Originally when I test drove the car I thought the engine was purring/roaring, as it's a fairly sporty car and thought it was a feature. Now realising that the engine's a little rattly. Engine has done a fair few miles (133K). Ideas on what the cause may be, and how to rectify/lower the noise. Willing to spend a little just to make me happier. (sounds a little like a diesel at the moment). Would quality engine oil be a start (GTX Magnatex or something?)
Rust - Lower area of the passenger rear door rusted - Most likely I'll replace the whole door rather than patching it up.
Front fog lens broken - Cheap fix - Ebay or similar for a replacement. Should be easy enough.
So all in all, what's my feeling? Genuinely I got a bargain. It's reasonably tidy, it's nice to drive, and with a little tidying up it'll hopefully last me a few years.
Any comments welcome and thoughts on the engine rattle would be much appreciated.
