Busted variator?

Hey people. I've had my 02 147 2.0 Selespeed for about three weeks now. No problems so far, except some VDC error messages now and then, but otherwise fine. But after reading online that the variator is a weak spot in the 2.0 TS i wondered if mine was busted. It doesn't sound like a diesel on start up or anything but I just wondered if this is how it's supposed to sound. When I shot the video the car had been running for about one hour (shot at work) so it's heated, and also, ignore the fan noise... I forgot to turn it off before recording.

But as you probably can hear there is a slight ticking sound so I wondered if this was the typical sound of a broken variator or valve ticking. In any case, is there anything that I should repair?

The camelt was changed 14 months ago and 20.000 KMs...

I usually check the oil everytime I fill more than a few litres of petrol and I just topped it up from around medium to full, so it has enough oil. But I was thinking of giving her a complete oil change with a new filter and some quality oil(Agip/Selenia).

Sounds almost allright to me.When was the last oil and filter change? The ticking noise is most probabbly the injectors.
I'd suggest you try Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W40 rather than the Selenia...or a semi-sinthetic motul if you think it will burn the fully synthetic one.

your variator is fine if it doesn't give strange noises on startup
