If your battery has no obvious filling points or cover on the top and only small (about 4mm diameter) vent holes at each end it will be maintainence free and sealed as David C's comment.
Chambers within the battery are intended to reduce any fliud loss so the plates should never be exposed at the top. If its not been in use (charged by the alternator) regularly you can try charging it with a battery charger. However if its failing to hold a good charge and its something like 3 to 5 years old you could do with replacing it with a new one.
