Well, i've had my Lipari Grey Alfa GT with 18's for two weeks now and loving it. Before I had an VW Golf MK 4 and whilst i do feel that the VW is generally better made internally, the ALFA is just superb to drive. Things to note so far:
- The JTD 1.9 engine is nice and powerful and the turbo kicks in around 2k revs and upwards. Motorway driving is a dream and is car seems to love the open road. It's not so happy on short (stop/start) journeys, but i find this just gives more people time to admire the fine lines of the car....
So far I can definately say I impressed with this car. Driving position is nice, leather interior and general decor internally is very pleasing on the eye, the drive is smooth and it's a real head turner. Italian style is the key with this car!
A few things to note:
With vw I used a silicon based product called Gumi Pfledge. This stuff is excellent applied to rubber seals (windows) etc.... especially in the winter. The VW had issues regarding seals etc around the door and window and I just found that this stuff renewed the rubber and improved the seals. I've used it around the ALFA too now and the rubber looks much better and not so hard. This stuff is easy to apply and may improve issues with hard squeeky rubber seals...
I had a slight creaking clutch and decided to buy some white lithium grease from Halfords yesterday, as per suggestions on AO. Sprayed it on the linkages and it's eased the clutch some and partially cured the creak.. Any more advice about clutch creak would be welcome though.
So my experience so far with this most beautiful of cars it of good one and im really happy I bought it.
