Alfa 156 2.0 TS VERY low power below 3,000rpm
It's my first posting at AlfaOwner, and I am in hope that you can help me. I got an Alfa 156 as a heritage from my father. It was working fine but it started to have problems a couple of weeks ago. I started feeling the engine would not react below 3,000 rpm, and this problem became more and more noticeable after a few days. As it is now, it takes about 5-10 seconds to get over 3,000rpm (stopped or moving, no matter how do I try to accelerate), while I hear many "misfiring" sounds as the rpm go up. This happens 50% of times - no matter if the engine is cold or hot - though I noticed that it won't do it for the first 2 minutes or so.
Funny thing is when I am stopped at a traffic light. When it goes green, it takes about 10 seconds for the car to reach 20mph... then it accelerates like a Ferrari. People have started to say I don't know how to drive.
The problem is ALWAYS below 3,000rpm, after that it seems a brand new car. It has the ABS and airbag lights turned on, don't know if this has anything to do...
Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!
