Are side lights part of MOT?

Got my MOT tomorrow n am dreading it. From past experience these occasions always run bills upto 300 quid.

Was just wondering if sidelights are part of the MOT? At present I have none in, only my main beam.

Also, the window wipers clear the scree. Well apart from a small area/streak on the passengers side. Would this fail?

Lights all need to be working and aiming correctly. As for small streak clean wipers and screen with vinegar, should help.

Yup, you will need them in - unless tester is feeling generous and fits them for you.
Personally I always try to make sure all the obvious stuff is working like lights and give the car a clean. I guess its probably all in my mind but I lways think a car going for mot with no obvious problems and clean creates a good impression

As for the wipers try cleaning them with vinegar and a cloth see if it improves wipe

For the sidelights, most definately I'd say, for the sake of a couple of quid for the bulbs get it done yourself and save some money. They are a bit tricky to do though, if you do a search there's a thread on fitting them somewhere. Best tip is to put the lights on when they are in the holder so you can see from the front if they are going in OK.

I wouldn't worry too much about the wipers though, as the other guys have said just give em a clean.
