Recently bought a 147 JTDm - didn't get off to a good start, but that's another story
- and things are getting worse. I'm a tyre tart, I like the Vredestein Quatrac 3 all weather tyre and have a set of four on back order and that's the problem.... they were supposed
to be delivered this week as I placed the order in early October. However, it seems that Vredestein won't have any
available in 215/45/17 until early January
In the meantime the tyres on the car are some Korean brand I've never heard of, two of which badly need changed. I was offered 225/45/17 instead (Quatrac 3) but having flicked through the forum earlier today it seems that unless you've got the 147 GTA alloys the 225 section tyre is really a non-starter, so I turned down the offer.
That 215/45/17 tyre size is a bit of a pain when it comes to finding anything other than a summer tyre, so I'm looking at a stop-gap pair of tyres until the Vredesteins come in. Haven't made my mind up which tyres as I'm loathe to spend too much as I'm banking on the Vredesteins turning up in January.
The alternate plan is to buy another type of all season tyre, but which one
I'd probably have to go to a full winter spec tyre as there's very few all-weather types out there and, as I've discovered, that 215/45/17 is a pain to find. Anyone got a suggestion?
The new Bridgestone A001 isn't available in all sizes yet, the Cooper Zeon A/S is (according to a UK distributor) illegal in Europe due to it's composition (nasty oils apparently) so it seems a full winter tyre is the only choice..... unless I go for Uniroyal Rainsport 2.
Anyone got other suggestions
