I don't see why tightening up a brace after fitting is good - that means to me that it either puts on too little or too much pressure.
I too thought the price a bit steep. But after browsing around, I found I would have to import a cheaper strut brace, pay toll, tax and transport, spend time collecting the package and doing the paperwork, and most likely end up paying nearly the same. All considered the price seemed fair. And it gave instant gratification - not to be taken lightly.
On top of that - there are not many braces available for the V6 engine. The Alfa brace fits like a glove, and allows for good access to the parts near it.
