EOBD LIGHT & NO PICK UP
Just got back from a fortnight in France, all very nice and enjoyable with fine wines, foods, roads and - mainly - fine driving in my 156. Only "mainly" as I had one heart stopping moment.
After a day trip involving about 100 miles fast driving, I parked the car for about about two hours before setting off in the evening for a short drive ( 5 miles say ) to a restuarant. So I started her up and pulled away only to realise that the "EOBD" light had stayed on and that the car just would not pick up at all, even with my foot flat to the floor, the engine would not pass 1000 RPM. I coasted like this for about 500 yards until I reached a road junction. I took my foot off the accelerator, waited 10 secs and booted it again and suddenly all was well, although the light stayed on. I drove to the restuarant, parked and restarted the engine a couple of times with no problems although the EOBD light would not turn off.
After a nervous couple of hours in the resatuarant, I got back in the car, it restared fine and the light went off. Since then I have driven - a slightly nerve racking - 800 miles with, so far , no problems.
Before I go and do battle with the Bishops of Guildford "service" department, does anybody out there have any thoughts as to what could be the reason ????
