156 1.9jtdm 16v boost control valve
I've been having the dreaded overboost fault occuring in 6th gear on my 1.9jtdm sometimes in 5th gear, so I've been working my way round the houses trying to fix the error. it probably only happens to me about once a week at best and most often it does it in 6th gear when you hit about 80mph (private roads, officer!)
I've got full alfadiag licence and free version of FiatECUScan.
I took the MAP sensor out the other day and gave it a good clean as it was caked, thought I had cracked it until friday on way home, hit about 80 in 6th and beep beep beep here we go again! okay.
so I plugged her in and took some graph readings to see that the actual boost was often higher than the desired boost, so something not right, so I had the boost control valve graph going as well.
now the boost control valve only ever got to a max of 75%. I don't know what 75% meant, is that open or closed? all I know is that the % number got smaller as I stuck my foot down.
big question is is this right? I would assume that it should get to 100% but could be wrong.
I have since replaced the vaccuum pipes on both sides of the actuator thingy on the radiator just to be sure and ran out of time to test this any further as she needed her bath before it got dark and bed time!
any advice would be appreciated.
thank you ladies and gents!
