Trip Computer Lost its Accuracy

The trip computer on my 156 Sportback used to be pretty accurate, but at my last re-fill when I re-set for the latest tankfull it started behaving a bit strangely.

It now seems to be under-reading the distance by a huge amount, and so it now shows far less mpg!

Any ideas to sort it out? I've tried re-setting a couple of times but without any success, although not yet tried with a re-filled tank.

You haven't filled up while leaving the engine ticking over or left the key in the ignition barrel have you?

It wont register the extra fuel unless ignition key is removed so will then be playing catch up.

Have you had an issue with starting the car recently i.e. battery or lazy to start?

A temporary loss of optimum voltage can cause the existing MPG info to be lost, thus resetting itself.
