Paraflu 11 and Selenia

Hi guys

Sure you guys have heard this before

Would like some honest opinions about this, ive got an alfa garage telling me that i should really be buying the baove for my 2.0 156 as this was what the car was born with and what the engin is designed for, on the other hand i have genric mechanic saying its all ******** you can use generic oils and antifreeze for the model. My car has 124 k on the clock

Both products are not cheap as im sure you are aware and im about to service my car, what are your thoughts? does this stuff have a really big impact on performance and maintenance? or am i best going with more generic brands for antifreeze and oil

Would be good to know as i have to garages telling me opposite things

Any decent semi-synth or fully synth will be fine.
As long as it has the same SAE etc number it ok.

Antifreeze the same.

power steering and transmission are better with the recomended fluids

Your mechanic is have a car with an internal combustion engine !!! the very first ones that karl Benz had a hand in ran on Peanut oil !

Try the usual recommended oils, such as Silkolene, Millers, Castrol, Motul etc....the grade is the only required factor when choosing a top quality oil.

Plenty of advice in the searches

My 156 only ran Selenia engine oil until its first service.
It then ran on Castrol RS 10w60 until I later started using Redline 10w40. Currently using Motul 5w40.
Gearbox changed to Redline 75w90NS years ago.
Coolant changed to 4Life red coolant from the first change too.
