Can't tell from your post if you're aware of this, but the right hand speakers not working isn't the actual speakers or speaker wiring or they wouldn't work when the radio was on either.
First off i would check the cables running from the CD changer to the head unit, make sure they're plugged into the back of the changer and the head unit properly.
If you've got separate phono/bus control cables then the phono one is more likely to be at fault here.
If they are plugged in properly then it could be a break in the cable, or one the units is faulty.
I don't know how the 156 is setup so can't be more specific, sorry.
As a thought though, if you can't see anything obvious causing either fault i would have a quick check to see if there's a place where the rear brake cables and the CD changer cables come through the loom together where it could have been trapped or kinked. causing a break in the cabling.
