2006 Alfa 147 - Slight knock from steering
Just returned from my service and MOT and my car passed, but I had mentioned a few things to them which I wanted them to look at. I have experienced a slight knock at more or less the same point when locking the wheel round to the right (or was that left - I'll have to check tomorrow). It's noticeable when parking but doesn't affect the handling in any way. It's been doing this for well over a year and it finally started to get on my nerves.
Anyway, Mangoletsi have basically said they can't track down the knocking and it's probably one of those things to leave and see if it gets worse. Well, OK, but it hasn't got worse in the eighteen or so months it's been happening, and they have said it's possibly play in the steering rack. They are talking about replacing the steering rack to repair the job!!! Surely on a 2006 car, this shouldn't be a problem!
I certainly don't want to spend a grand on fixing it if that is the case, so I was just wondering if anyone out there has had a similar problem and could advise.
Thanks in advance,
