hole'er than thou

I saw an interior revised 156 the other day (not nose job, but with the info centre vent thingy appx autumn 2002 in uk) and the little air scopes just to the outside of the foglights seemed to be one big hole in the (now painted)trim. Mine are lots of little holes drilled in the plastic trim fitting.

Was wondering if this was an owner mod to try to allow more air into the rear of the front wheels (brake cooling) or the air intake, or if this was a change by AR. I know they started painting these bits, but???

Anyone know - or even know what I mean!!

Hold the rear end slide....don't run wide!

156 2.0TS Veloce Lthr (02/02), silver, black Momo, BMC filter,V6 intake, DS2500 Front-DS Perf Rear pads, Conti sportcontacts, OMP strut Brace .

Built in Italy, on the last Friday before (hic) Xmas........:-/

Re: hole'er than thou

I noticed this when mine was new, I thought it seemed wrong, but it turns out it's normal.
My old TS had the grills, the JTS doesn't. But strangely I think some of the other facelifted cars, like the 1.6's etc did get grills. The official dealer excuse this time, was to get more Airflow to the Airconditioning or something like that......
it gives us Alfista types something to talk about I suppose.....

Re: hole'er than thou

Older 156s (pre 2000) also don't seem to have the grill.
I've increased the hole size on mine in an attempt to increase air flow.
Unlikely to help the aircon though as vent is quite a distance from aircon cooler.

I did think of hooking up the intake to the vent, but was concerned about ingesting to much road dirt & water.
