V6 Alternator change

Just in case anyone was in any doubt, I can confirm that changing the alternator on a 156 V6 is a c@#k of a job. Didn't want to disturb the exhaust pipe as per the manual because the nuts and bolts were so rusty I couldn't even see where the hex was, let alone hope to undo them, so I tried the "through the wheel arch" method. As I recall, the instructions mention "loosening" the subframe. If loosening means drop it on the floor then that's about right. While undoing nuts and bolts I have managed to strip threads and break a bolt in the wishbones so they need replacing now too. Honestly, whoever thought a mild steel bolt screwed into aluminium in about the most exposed place possible would ever end well?
Anyway, the good news is I have finally got the old (hopefully faulty) alternator out and am about to start rebuilding. With copperslip.
Wish me luck.
