Re: Tickover causing problems
I think the revs will be ok.
Yesterday after cleaning with a cloth, the tickover revs were initially about 1500, but slowly came down in steps to 750 if left standing. Eventually the tickover revs went down to 1250 and so on until they were down at the normal level last night.
Had the same thing again this morning after the Carb Cleaner. I'm going out later on for a drive so it will get a blast again. I had to hold the valve open with my finger to clean around the top edge, but I don't think anything was forced.
Interestingly, the chap at Mangoletsi suggested (off the record) doing what you proposed and also try a fuel additive cleaner as well, as the knock sensor was a red herring - which was honest of them - before going any further. I'm sure some dealers would maybe have the car in, charge you a fortune for doing the same thing. More kudos for Mangoletsi!
